The short answer is…well…yes! Think about it from a macroeconomic point-of-view, supply and demand. There is high demand but very few reliable suppliers. This leads to price-gouging (in a way); if there are only one or two suppliers, they set the market price, they determine what is considered ‘good’ print quality, their production times are considered the norm. Now you throw in a bunch of new POD suppliers and voila – you have competition, which means better pricing, faster production, and higher quality products. This not only benefits sellers, but also customers – which is after all the main objective.
This is why Backstory Prints was started. We have been sellers (on Etsy, eBay, Amazon, Shopify, you-name-it-and-we-were-there) and, of course, we’ve been customers too. We’ve also been in the printing business for the last 10 years – so we get the business as a whole. Our POD services focus on helping our sellers sell – and we try to provide them with whatever they need to do that in a more efficient, cost effective way. For us, the more our sellers sell – the more they buy from us. It’s a win-win. So, we’re deeply invested in providing the best pricing, the best quality products within the shortest possible production timeframes.
