After you’ve chosen your PoD supplier, have all your designs ready and know which products to sell; the last thing to plan on, is to choose where to sell. Below you can find some of the most important IF’s that you need to consider before choosing where to sell.

Choose a marketplace if:

 you don’t mind using the marketplace domain name for your shop address;

 you want to increase your brand trust thru a marketplace that is already trusted by millions of shoppers;

⮚ you can’t drive enough trafic to your shop;

⮚ you only have a small budget for Ads that you’d like to run within the marketplace;

⮚ you don’t want your buyers to worry about security issues and payment gateway;

⮚ you are fine with having a basic control over your shop settings;

⮚ you’re are aware that there is high level of competition and it is more difficult to stand out of the crowd while establishing your brand.

Choose an e-commerce platform if:

⮚ you want to have your own domain name;

⮚ you know how to create a website to inspire trust into your brand;

⮚ you have an established audience to drive traffic to your website;

⮚ you have the budget and willing to constantly invest in Ads. (Facebook, IG, Pinterest etc);

⮚ you are a good marketer and know how to build customer loyalty;

⮚ you want more control over your shop (from front-end customizations to payment gateways and more) and your customers (be able to communicate with your customers, have them subscribe to your newsletter, send them special offers and inform on products release).

Either option has its pros and cons, for some sellers a marketplace is the best choice, for others owning a website is ideal. Not least, there are ofcourse sellers that would have their products listed on both, a marketplace and a website. Here you can take a look at your options before choosing where to sell.
